I found this 1964-1/2 Shelby Mustang GT350 sitting in the parking lot of the local tire shop.

The first generation Ford Mustang was introduced in 1964 at the World’s Fair and went on sale in April of that year. Initially, it was offered as a coupe or convertible and was VIN coded as a 1965. The fastback wasn’t offered until August of 1964, The start of the 1965 model year. The roof line of the Mustang I found at the tire shop is from the early part of 1964. Those first Mustangs came equipped with 170 cu.in. (2.8L) straight-6 engines. In August the base engine was upgraded to a 200 cu.in.(3.3L) straight-6 producing 120 hp. The car weighed only 2570 lbs. Current model Mustangs all tip the scale at over 3500 lbs. The base Mustang was sold for US $2,638.00. (In 2015 a new Mustang costs over $32,000.00). Wikipedia claims the Shelby GT were only offered as a fastback.1 The car above could be an exception, but more likely it is a tribute car. A tribute car is when a hobbyist modifies a vehicle to mimic the appearance of the desired car. The first generation Mustang was succeeded by the second generation in 1974.1
